What sort of items should people bring?
Before your party encourage everyone to look through their drawers, jewellery boxes and dressing tables, and gather together any unwanted gold items. Keep an eye out for:
- Unwanted jewellery – it may no longer be to your taste, old fashioned or it could be a present from an ex
- Broken jewellery and odd earrings
- Gold sovereigns and other gold coins
- Gold trinkets like cigarette boxes, cufflinks, watch chains, pens and Christening gifts – even small pieces can achieve surprisingly high prices
- Not sure if it’s gold? Don’t worry, bring it along anyway and the Joseph Sterling jeweller will be able to give you an expert evaluation
What happens at a gold party?
While you relax with your friends, a friendly Joseph Sterling jeweller will weigh your uwanted gold items, value them and write out cheques on the night. At the end of the evening you and your friends will leave with extra cash to spend on something you really do want … perhaps a holiday, a new laptop, designer outfit, or even treat yourself to a bespoke piece of jewellery from Joseph Sterling.
What happens to the gold that you buy?
We buy your gold to be melted down and reused. If we see a piece that’s too good for scrap gold and that we believe can achieve a higher price if it’s not melted down, our expert will be able to tell you.
If I wanted a successful party, how many people do I need to invite?
Typically the most income has been generated for the host/hostess with between 12 and 15 people attending. However, a few guests with a lot to sell will produce the same results.
How long does a gold party last on average?
This is totally dependent on how much jewellery each guest has to sell. But on average it takes 10-12 minutes per person per transaction.
What if I am not sure my jewellery is gold?
Our expert attending your party will test your items of jewellery in front of you to determine whether it is gold plated or gold and its carat, using testing equipment.
Can people make private appointments?
